Before: a Wix store that had hit its limits.

In late 2025, I delivered an Odoo ↔ Wix connector to Tool Innovation Panamá, putting an end to months of manual double entry. A few months later, the client came back with a more ambitious project: stop fighting Wix's limits and build a platform of their own.

The requirements were clear: negotiated professional pricing for B2B customers (impossible to manage cleanly on Wix), the local Panamanian payment methods (Yappy, the mobile payment everyone there uses), a multilingual catalog for Spanish, French and English-speaking customers, on-site tool demo booking, and a back office they fully own, wired to their new Zoho Books accounting.

A complete platform, architected to last.

The website never talks to Zoho directly: a sync worker continuously replicates products, stock, prices and customers into a PostgreSQL database, which the site reads. The result: fast pages, zero API quota consumed by visitors, and a site that stays up even if the sync goes down. On checkout, the order flows back to Zoho Books automatically.

On payments, zero tolerance: amounts and discounts are computed exclusively server-side, webhooks are cryptographically verified, and every state transition is idempotent. A double click or a replayed webhook can never produce two charges. And no card data ever touches the site: Yappy and PagueloFácil handle payment end to end.

8 major building blocks, one product.

01

Catalog & search

6 specialized categories, 7 official brands, instant search, real-time stock synced with Zoho Books. Rich product pages: photos, variants, specs, SEO.

02

Professional accounts

Sign-up with RUC (the Panamanian business ID), manual validation, then the pro discount applies automatically across the whole catalog. Built-in quote requests.

03

Local online payments

Yappy (Banco General) + PagueloFácil (Visa/Mastercard/Clave) through hosted checkout. Signed webhooks, idempotency, zero card data on the site.

04

Zoho Books sync

Bidirectional sync worker: Zoho stays the source of truth (stock, prices, customers), the site enriches on top (photos, SEO, highlights). Orders pushed to Zoho.

05

Demos & order tracking

Tool demo booking directly on the customer's job site, online order tracking, automated transactional emails.

06

Complete back office

Catalog, orders, quotes, customers, blog, Instagram feed, statistics, loyalty, notifications, team and access rights. The client runs everything, depending on no one.

07

Built-in AI assistant

A conversational copilot inside the back office: order status, stock, today's sales, pending pro accounts, blog editing. The team queries their store in plain language.

08

AI-generated product content

Structured descriptions, SEO titles and alt texts generated from the manufacturer catalogs uploaded to the back office. Specs are extracted by exact reference, never invented.

The site in production.

Under the hood.

Website: Next.js (App Router) + React + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS. Server rendering, optimized images, 3-language i18n, full SEO (sitemap, Open Graph, structured data).

Data: PostgreSQL + Prisma. Node sync worker for Zoho Books (OAuth2, cron jobs): the site reads the database, never the API. Performance and resilience.

Payments: Yappy and PagueloFácil through hosted checkout. Server-verified amounts, signed webhooks, idempotent transitions, full audit log.

AI: Google Vertex AI (Gemini). A tool-using admin assistant (orders, stock, sales, blog, pro accounts) and product content generation grounded in the brands' PDF catalogs: the AI locates the product sheet by manufacturer reference and never invents a spec.

Infrastructure: deployed on Railway (site + database + worker), domain through Cloudflare, transactional emails with Resend, error monitoring with Sentry.

Before / After.

  • Catalog and accounting disconnected
  • Product pages written by hand
  • One language, limited SEO

After

  • A custom platform the client fully owns
  • RUC-validated pro accounts, automatic discounts, online quotes
  • Yappy + card payments, secured end to end
  • Catalog continuously synced with Zoho Books
  • Descriptions and SEO generated by AI from manufacturer catalogs
  • 3 languages, complete back office with an AI assistant

The site has been live at toolinnov.com since July 2026. It is the second product delivered to this client, the strongest vote of confidence a client can give. First episode: the Odoo ↔ Wix connector.
